An old rabbinic writing once said, “The man is restless while he misses the rib that was taken from his side, and the woman is restless until she gets under the man’s arm, from whence she came.”
Finding Joy in the simple things…
We had a wonderful weekend.. no its not where we were a year ago (traveling Italy) nor is it very ‘fall’ weather here but it was very relaxing. Friday night we had a lovely date night with time down at the beach, dinner at home with yummy desert and a rented movie.
I went to a yoga class Saturday morning & Cordie hit up a coffee shop to do some ‘learning’ (not working) then we enjoyed a nice afternoon with the door and windows open reading, cleaning the house and just appreciating where we are today.
Later that evening we caught up with some friends – it was a perfect night to sit out on a patio and just be. (Cordie is currently sporting an old-fashioned flip-phone )
We are enjoying the new Iphone6 & its outstanding camera check out what we did late Sunday Afternoon:
Yes, today is Monday (not the weekend) but we both wanted to start our week off right, so we got up early & got to the beach around 7:30AM.. I went for a nice long walk & Cordie started his work day at one of our fav local cafes Lillie’s… it was very windy but a gorgeous morning!
As you can see above Trader Joe’s is now open in Jax Beach and we couldn’t be more thrilled!
What did you do this past weekend? Any fun fall activities?
Happy Friday y’all!
It’s always nice to get out of the house for a little focus shift when we both just need a 30-45 min break from work… so thankful that we are only 5 mins away from the beach to be able to do so!
Bito: Clarence M. Bassett aka Mario
We all gathered together on Sat. Sept 20th (before the engagement party) afternoon to spread my Grandpa, Clarence Merritt Bassett’s ashes next to my Grandma, Katherine Meyer Bassett…
Above is the tree carved with their initials marking the spot. It was very special even though it has almost been two years since he passed for each of us to go around and share a memory or something we will never forget about Grandpa and the amazing Man of God he was.
This is the crew…there are still quite a few missing that live out of the country and in other parts of the USA.
Then our ‘silly’ picture:
1st Row:
From Left: Tia Mary Bassett, Amy Wells (Tio John Bassett’s daughter), Bobby Osborn, John Carson Wells (7), Rylie Wells (just turned 11), Laura Cisneros*, Hannah Doery*, Myself, Cordie, and James Benge. (Tia Mary’s son)
2nd Row:
From Left: Tio John Bassett, Lucas Wells, Elizabeth Osborn, Betty Osborn, Tia Ana Cisneros, Erica Cisneros (baby in arms is Mila June-8months old), & Junior.
3rd Row:
From Left: Don Osborn, Michael Osborn, Alaina & her mother Candace, Donald Osborn, Jose (Laura’s Fiance) and Antonio Cisneros.
As an ending note to them both (though they will never be forgotten) we sang the chorus of a song my Grandpa would sing to Grandma Katherine.
“K-K-K-Katy, beautiful Katy,
You’re the only g-g-g-girl that I adore;
When the m-m-m-moon shines,
Over the cowshed,
I’ll be waiting at the k-k-k-kitchen door.

Flintrock Falls
First for us both at a Texan Golf Course… boy was it beautiful… with fresh water springs flowing through most of the holes… bright green fairways due to the tremendous amount of rain the area had seen the previous week…
We played at Flintrock Falls, an awesome course cut through the Austin Hill Country.. which is in the group of golf clubs owned by the same company as Queens Harbour Yacht and Country Club… so we got to play as members. We are both looking forward to playing at many more courses around the USA in the group
Cordie really enjoyed seeing all the cactus throughout the course…
